James Waide is a composer, academic, orchestral manager and teacher based in Manchester, UK. As a PhD student, he is researching the relationship between composition, Lacanian Psychoanalysis and Hegelian Dialectics at the Royal Northern College of Music. He previously completed his MMus in Composition at the RNCM and his BA(hons) Music at he University of Hull. He collaborates with a number of professional and student performers, including with the Orchestra that he manages, Hive Sinfonia.
As a teacher, he has taken on a number of both child and adult learners, who have come to him for lessons in Composition, Music Theory and the Violin.
Recently, James is very happy to have been awarded the 2nd Prize in the 1st Annual Wizarding School Composers Competition, organised by Joseph Sowa.
James was grateful to be supported in his Masters’ studies at the RNCM by the Waverley Fund.
